Questions
The ones that come up most, about the work, the podcast and Infodash.
Who is Ted Theodoropoulos?
CEO and co-founder of Infodash, and host of the Legal Innovation Spotlight podcast. More than 20 years in legal technology, including time at Microsoft. Named to the Financial Times Law 50 in 2026, ILTA's Innovative Leader of the Year in 2024, and a Fellow of the College of Law Practice Management. Based in St. Louis.
What is Infodash?
An AI-powered intranet and extranet platform for law firms, built natively on Microsoft 365, SharePoint and Azure, so a firm's data stays inside its own tenant. More than one-third of the AmLaw 200 runs on it for intranet, extranet, enterprise search and AI enablement.
What does “own the skill, rent the model” mean?
It is Ted's shorthand for where durable AI capability actually lives. Models are interchangeable and they get replaced every few months. The capability that compounds sits in a firm's data, workflows and people, which is why he argues for building that layer inside the firm rather than renting it from whichever vendor is ahead this quarter.
Why does the billable hour keep coming up in his writing about AI?
Because he treats it as more than a pricing model. It is an operating system, one that shapes compensation, staffing, promotion and how a firm measures itself. Once you see it that way, most of what does and does not get adopted in legal starts to make sense.
Who does Ted work with?
Two groups. Law firm leaders, meaning COOs, CIOs, IT directors and the knowledge management and innovation professionals modernizing their firm's intranet, extranet, document collaboration and search. And corporate legal leaders, meaning general counsel, chief legal officers and legal operations teams who want a single view across their panel law firms.
What is Legal Innovation Spotlight?
An industry podcast Ted hosts on innovation across legal. 137 conversations since August 2023 with firm leaders, founders, in-house counsel and analysts from across the market. New episodes land on Wednesdays.
How do I become a guest on the podcast?
Email press@getinfodash.com with the subject line "Legal Innovation Spotlight Guest". Include your name, job title, company, area of expertise and the topics you would want to cover.
What topics does Ted speak on?
Legal AI strategy, law firm technology, knowledge management, and the economics of the law firm business model. Also Microsoft Teams and SharePoint in legal, unified collaboration, intranets, the build-versus-buy decision, and law firm efficiency and growth.
Where does Ted publish first?
LinkedIn, where more than 13,000 people follow along. This site is the archive, and it currently holds 87 posts going back to 2024. If you want a way in rather than a reverse-chronological list, the Start here page groups the best of it by argument.
